Texas A&M University Athletics.Academic achievement and athletic excellence are the hallmark of Texas A&M University. Nearly 650 students compete at the NCAA Division 1-A level in a variety of varsity sports, which range from baseball, football, and soccer to volleyball, golf, and track & field. Since 1996, Texas A&M has won 20 Big 12 titles in an assortment of both men's and women's competitions. Recreational sports are also big. Blinn College Overview.Blinn College began in 1883 as the Mission Institution under the auspices of the Southern German Conference of the Methodist denomination. Six years later, the Reverend Christian Blinn of New York donated a major amount of money and the school was name in his honor. Initially, the school was founded to train young men to become ministers. However, in time, academic courses were added to the curriculum. In 1888, the men only rule was lifted and women were admitted. A junior college, Blinn has four campuses. Blinn College Academics.Two degrees are available at Blinn College, an Associate in Arts Degree (AA) and an Associate in Science Degree (AS). With these degrees, students are able to enter four-year institutions as juniors. While students have the freedom to choose any area of study, there are several traditional fields that are suggested. For the AA degree, the fields of study include communications, criminal justice, English, and Speech/Theater Arts. Blinn College Athletics.The Blinn College Buccaneers compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Men’s team sports include football, basketball, and baseball. As for the women, they’re engaged in three sports as well, volleyball, basketball, and softball. In 2008, the Blinn Lady Bucs were the NJCAA volleyball champions.
